Communications Specialist

Communications Specialist (contract position)

ELCIC Group Services Inc. (“GSI”) administers pension and benefits plans that enhance the well-being of employees who serve in the ELCIC and its affiliates.

GSI is seeking a creative, self-motivated, dynamic, determined, passionate, and smart individual as our Communications Specialist, working on contract an average of 25 to 30 hours per month, including regular time spent on-site.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the key responsibilities include:

  • develop and implement an effective communication strategy utilizing a variety of media
  • maintain a communications calendar reflecting the strategy
  • develop messaging around current themes and focus
  • write and update communications material
  • establish and maintain working relationships with the national and synodical offices to coordinate initiatives and events
  • keep website fresh, current, and accurate
  • prepare presentations and speaking notes for the President and Executive Director
  • provide the President and Executive Director with strategic communications advice and support
  • stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies and platforms and implement those appropriate for GSI.

Specifically the Communication Specialist will:

  • take initiative to build content around wellness
  • develop and implement strategies that generate awareness of wellness programs and employee engagement.

The ideal candidate for this role is:

  • a strong, passionate and versatile writer
  • a strategic thinker
  • detail-oriented, with a good command of English grammar
  • skilled with desktop publishing software and WordPress
  • adept at and enthusiastic about learning new technologies and software
  • well versed on the ELCIC and familiar with its constituents
  • experienced in event and trade show planning and execution

Education & Experience

A relevant degree or diploma such as Creative Communications plus 1-3 years professional experience is strongly preferred.

Accounts Payable & Office Assistant

Accounts Payable & Office Assistant

ELCIC Group Services Inc. (“GSI”) administers pension and benefits plans that enhance the well-being of employees who serve in the ELCIC and its affiliates.

GSI is seeking an Accounts Payable & Office Assistant, working one day per week.

Reporting to the Executive Director, typical duties include:

  • review invoices, match to contract or approved order and code for accounting ledger,
  • follow up on discrepancies and ensure deadlines are met,
  • issue cheques for signing or set up for on-line payments,
  • filing and archiving,
  • assisting with mailings,
  • administrative assistance to the Executive Director, and
  • meeting arrangements.

Candidates should demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • proficiency in Microsoft Office applications,
  • experience with accounting software and data entry,
  • strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills,
  • high degree of accuracy, with attention to detail.
